Dear Families,
The school year is off to a great start! Our children are learning new subjects, making friends, and becoming more independent. Families at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLKing) School are getting to know each other through events like the Popsicle part, Welcome Night, classroom activities and community meetings. And, in just a few weeks, we'll be moving into a brand-new building at our permanent home on Putnam Street.
We have additional good news to share: the re-formed MLKing Parents Group ("MLK Friends") has been officially granted nonprofit status. Now all donations are tax-deductible and as a nonprofit MLK Friends qualifies for corporate donations and employer matching gifts. MLK Friends is planning exciting events and celebrations in the year ahead - Chinese New Year and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day assembly, among others. MLK Friends coordinates and funds these events, as well as the annual Book Fair to promote literacy and love of learning.
Please consider making a tax deductible gift to MLK Friends today - $5, $25, $50, $100 or other amount - so we can continue these important efforts and do even more this year. Your gift will combine with the gifts of other families to make an impact on educational and enrichment activities opportunities within the MLKing School Community.
